This wood inlay panel by Mohan Kumar is a striking portrait of a horse, showcasing the artist’s ability to capture the spirit and vitality of the animal through the Mysore Rosewood Inlay tradition. This work focuses on a close-up, soulful study of a horse’s head, utilizing a meticulous marquetry technique to define its noble features. The artisan has masterfully selected and pieced together various wood veneers to simulate the texture of a real coat; a bold, pale-colored wood creates a prominent ""blaze"" or white stripe down the center of the face, while darker, reddish-brown timbers are used for the bridge of the nose and the ears.

The composition is further defined by the dynamic use of natural wood grains to suggest motion and character. To the left, the horse’s mane is rendered with jagged, flame-like pieces of dark wood that appear to be wind-swept, contrasting sharply against the rich, vertical grain of the rosewood background. The eyes are particularly detailed, with tiny, dark inlays used to create a gentle and intelligent expression. Framed by a classic dark-grained rosewood border with a light inner pinstripe, this piece transforms different species of timber into a tactile and expressive tribute to one of nature's most graceful creatures.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.
