Mysore Ganjifa cards, originating from the royal courts of Mysore, represent a rich tradition of hand-painted artistry, used for a sophisticated card game. In this collection, master artist Hemalatha B presents the Ashtalakshmi, the eight manifestations of Goddess Lakshmi, each card a miniature embodiment of prosperity and divine grace. These circular-haped cards meticulously depict: Adi Lakshmi, the primordial power; Dhanya Lakshmi, granter of agricultural abundance; Dhairya Lakshmi, bestower of courage; Gaja Lakshmi, symbol of animal wealth; Santana Lakshmi, giver of progeny; Vidya Lakshmi, source of knowledge; Vijaya Lakshmi, embodiment of victory; and Dhana Lakshmi, granter of material wealth. Hemalatha B's exquisite renderings capture the unique attributes of each Lakshmi form – their distinct asanas (postures), vahanas (vehicles), and ayudhas (weapons), each element imbued with symbolic meaning. The cards showcase the vibrant color palette and intricate detailing characteristic of Mysore paintings, with gold accents highlighting the goddesses' divine splendor. Each Lakshmi is framed within a circular border, emphasizing her divine presence. These Ganjifa cards transcend mere entertainment; they are devotional objects, visually representing the multifaceted nature of Lakshmi's blessings. Hemalatha B's skillful artistry not only preserves the legacy of Mysore Ganjifa but also ensures the continued relevance of the Ashtalakshmi's significance, making their divine presence accessible and cherished through this traditional art form.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
