Renowned artist Apindra Swain presents a mesmerizing Pattachitra masterpiece capturing Lord Krishna's celestial dance on the serpent Kaliya Naag, adorned with intricate details and vibrant hues. Pattachitra is a traditional cloth-based scroll painting from Odisha, India, known for its intricate details, vibrant colors, and devotional themes.This ancient Odishan art form, dating back centuries, finds new life in Swain's skilled hands.
At the center of the composition is Krishna, standing atop the Kaliya Naag. Kaliya was a venomous multi-headed serpent (naga) who lived in the Yamuna River in Vrindavan, poisoning its water. Lord Krishna, seeing the suffering of the villagers and animals, jumped into the river to confront him. After a battle, Krishna danced on Kaliya's head, subduing him and forcing him to release all his venom. Krishna then pardoned Kaliya on the condition that he leave the Yamuna River forever.
The rich colour palette, predominantly blues and greens, evokes the waters of the Yamuna river, while delicate gold and green leaf embellishments illuminate the divine scene. Matsya Kanyas, the mythical fish-tailed maidens, offer their gratitude and reverence, their presence adding a mystical dimension to the tableau. The swirling patterns and traditional motifs narrate this mythological story, making this artwork a timeless window into India's artistic and spiritual heritage.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.
We ship worldwide. All artworks are handmade and couriered securely in transit safe packaging sutaible for the artwork.

Returns and Replacements
