Step into the world of Pichwai with Jayesh Sharma, a ninth-generation master artist from Nathdwara, whose family has been associated with the Nathdwara temple for over 400 years.
This hands-on workshop offers participants a rare opportunity to learn the nuances of Pichwai directly from a master artist whose family tradition is closely connected to the temple and its artistic practices.
What We’ll Cover
Participants will work with poster paints on cotton cloth prepared by the artist using traditional methods. Painting will be done with natural-hair brushes, allowing you to experience the materials and techniques used in Pichwai painting.
During the workshop, we will explore:
- The intricacies of Pichwai painting
- Traditional Pichwai motifs and their significance
- The stories and traditions behind the motifs
- How motifs are composed and arranged within a Pichwai
- Traditional painting techniques and brushwork
