Pichwai is a traditional cloth-based painting from Nathdwara, Rajasthan, primarily created to adorn the sanctuary of Shrinathji (a seven-year-old child manifestation of Krishna) and is known for its intricate detailing and rich, vivid colors.

The elephant holds immense significance in this artistic tradition, representing royalty and sacred strength. It is prominently featured during major temple festivals like Gopashtami and Janmashtami, where the animals are intricately decorated to participate in royal processions welcoming the deity. By centering the composition on a solitary, beautifully caparisoned elephant, the majestic beauty and spiritual reverence embedded within Nathdwara's heritage is celebrated.

The elephant is rendered in dark grey, captured mid-stride moving towards the left with its trunk elegantly curled inward. Its body is adorned with ceremonial ornaments, including gold anklets, necklaces and a patterned head ornament detailed in gold lattice design.

Draped over its back is a splendid, multi-layered ceremonial saddle cloth. The outermost border of this cloth is a deep red band gold design, while the inner square is a rich green panel. At the absolute center of this green cloth is a gilded depiction of the sun god Surya, with a detailed face, mustache and sharp, exploding rays, symbolizing cosmic power and royal lineage. Along the base are stylized tufts of wild grass interspersed with tiny blossoms, grounding the royal animal within a natural setting.

The entire scene is encased in a sophisticated border that frames the artwork and provides a formal finish. A thin, stark red line forms the inner border, separating the central field from a wide yellow main band. This wide band features a continuous, undulating green vine adorned with small pink rosebuds and delicate green leaves. A final solid red frame bounds the entire piece, grounding the bright color palette and providing a clean, striking finish to the organic and highly detailed interior.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.
