This beautiful Chamba Rumal embroidery work by Anjali Vakil is a tender and intimate portrayal of Radha and Krishna, capturing a moment of quiet devotion in the idyllic pastures of Braj.
The composition is anchored by the figure of Lord Krishna, who is seated beneath the sprawling branches of a stylized tree. Rendered with a deep blue complexion, he wears a vibrant yellow dhoti and an ornate golden crown adorned with a peacock feather. Krishna is shown in a relaxed pose, holding his flute horizontally, while a small white calf leans affectionately against his knee, looking up at him with wide, innocent eyes.
Kneeling before him is Radha, her posture one of deep reverence and love. She is dressed in a lime-green blouse and a purple lehenga decorated with fine white dots, her long black hair falling gracefully down her back. The interaction between the figures and the calf creates a triangular focal point that emphasizes the harmony between the divine and the natural world.
The scene is set under a Tree of Life, which features a thick brown trunk and large, undulating clusters of green foliage rendered in varying shades to suggest depth. To the right of the tree, two small birds are perched on a low branch, mirroring the companionship of the central figures. Vakil uses the traditional double-sided satin stitch, ensuring that the block colors of the silk thread appear smooth and identical on both sides of the cream fabric. By omitting a formal border, the artist allows the narrative to breathe, focusing entirely on the emotional connection between the figures.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.
