About

Santosh Uikey, a passionate artist from Patangarh, Madhya Pradesh, has been immersed in the colorful world of Gond painting since his childhood. Drawing inspiration from his mother's artistic pursuits, Santosh began experimenting with colors and sketches at a young age, eventually founding a group for handicapped girls to share his love for art.

Although he hasn't received formal awards, Santosh's talent has garnered widespread recognition. Notably, he collaborated with Japanese artists on a project celebrating the Narmada River, infusing his Gond paintings with the rich stories and songs of his heritage.

Santosh's artwork reflects the vibrant hues of nature and the cultural heritage of his village. Through his paintings, he vividly portrays the daily life of the Gond tribe, capturing their traditions, rituals, and folklore on various mediums such as wood, walls, sarees, and resort walls.

Despite facing challenges and ridicule, Santosh remains steadfast in his dedication to preserving Gond culture through his art. He dreams of showcasing his work internationally and is even writing a book on tribal culture to further promote awareness and appreciation.
