Flowers in Soof Embroidery by Daya Ben

This beautiful Soof panel by Daya Ben features a scattered composition of stylized geometric flowers and reflective mirrors drifting across a rich red background. Soof Embroidery is a traditional counted-thread embroidery practiced by women of the Meghwal community in the Kutch region of Gujarat. It is created by counting the weave of the fabric rather than drawing patterns, resulting in precise geometric designs. The embroidery is usually worked with silk threads on handwoven cotton fabric, often without any mirrors. Soof motifs are inspired by nature, including flowers, buds and abstract forms.

The textile panel features five large, identical geometric flower medallions arranged in a staggered formation, one central motif flanked symmetrically by two at the top and two at the bottom. Each floral medallion radiates outward from a green cross at its core. From this center, four symmetric, elongated diamond petals extend along the cardinal axes, the vertical petals stitched in yellow and the horizontal ones in bright orange. Intricate, purple micro-geometric soof points accent the diagonals, mimicking smaller buds or delicate foliage.

Interspersed symmetrically between the large floral motifs are four circular abhlas (glass mirrors). Each mirror is securely bordered by a dense, circular ring of bright green satin stitches and crowned with small yellow geometric points at the four corners, transforming the mirrors into radiant, glowing floral centers of their own.

The textile displays the signature precision of the Soof style through its tight, flat satin stitching. The multi-directional alignment of the silk threads gives each geometric leaf and petal a smooth, reflective quality that catches the light dynamically. The addition of the circular shisha mirrors introduces a brilliant play of light, providing a sharp, glassy texture that beautifully breaks up the matte texture of the red cotton canvas.

Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely in transit safe packaging sutaible for the artwork.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
