About the Artwork +

In Krishna Prakash's Surpur art, Maa Durga emerges in her fierce form, Kali. Executed in ink on paper, this line art mesmerizes with its intricate details. Durga, with multiple arms, exudes power and grace. Her expression is intense, eyes ablaze with determination. Adorned in ornate jewelry and surrounded by swirling patterns, she commands attention. The artist's skill brings out the divine essence of the goddess, capturing her strength and divine presence. The artwork speaks volumes of Indian mythology, where gods and goddesses come alive through Prakash's masterful strokes.
Surpur art, originating from the Surpur region in Karnataka, India, is a unique form of traditional painting that has evolved over centuries. The process of creating Surpur art involves meticulous attention to detail, intricate brushwork, and the use of vibrant colors derived from natural pigments. This art form typically depicts scenes from Hindu mythology, folklore, and daily life, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Surpur art emerged as a form of visual storytelling, passed down through generations of artists who honed their skills and techniques over time. Today, Surpur art continues to thrive as a testament to the artistic legacy of Karnataka, embodying a blend of tradition, creativity, and cultural identity.

Krishna Prakash blue-tick

Krishna

Krishna Prakash, a 43-year-old artist hailing from Gulbarga, Karnataka, has carved a niche for himself in the realm of Surpur line art, a traditional form of miniature painting. Renowned as The Surpur Line Art Artist, Prakash's meticulous monochromatic creations breathe life into the heavily adorned gods and goddesses of Indian mythology. Despite being self-taught, his mastery of the art form is evident in the intricate details and exquisite craftsmanship of his pieces.

Having embarked on his artistic journey since the 6th grade, Krishna Prakash's passion for painting led him to immerse himself in the study of museum artworks, where he absorbed the techniques and processes with keen interest. Although his formal education at SB College, Gulbarga, took a backseat to his artistic pursuits, Prakash remained steadfast in his dedication to his craft. His favorite projects revolve around depicting goddesses and exploring the symbolic significance of the Tree of Life, showcasing his profound connection to spirituality and tradition through his art. With his work showcased in prestigious galleries like NIV Art Centre in New Delhi, Moksh Art Gallery in Mumbai, Hasta Gallery in Bangalore, and Studio Palazzo in Chennai, Prakash continues to enchant audiences with his timeless creations rooted in cultural heritage and artistic finesse.
