About the Artwork +

Krishna Prakash's traditional Supur painting presents a captivating black and white sketch portraying Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. In this artwork, Shiva is depicted in a dynamic and powerful stance, with intricate details capturing the essence of his divine presence. The artist skillfully conveys Shiva's iconic attributes, such as the third eye, matted hair adorned with the crescent moon, symbolizing his control over the three gunas or cosmic qualities.
Surpur art, originating from the Surpur region in Karnataka, India, is a unique form of traditional painting that has evolved over centuries. The process of creating Surpur art involves meticulous attention to detail, intricate brushwork, and the use of vibrant colors derived from natural pigments. This art form typically depicts scenes from Hindu mythology, folklore, and daily life, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Surpur art emerged as a form of visual storytelling, passed down through generations of artists who honed their skills and techniques over time. Today, Surpur art continues to thrive as a testament to the artistic legacy of Karnataka, embodying a blend of tradition, creativity, and cultural identity.

Renowned as The Surpur Line Art Artist, Prakash's meticulous monochromatic creations breathe life into the heavily adorned gods and goddesses of Indian mythology. Despite being self-taught, his mastery of the art form is evident in the intricate details and exquisite craftsmanship of his pieces.

Having embarked on his artistic journey since the 6th grade, Krishna Prakash's passion for painting led him to immerse himself in the study of museum artworks, where he absorbed the techniques and processes with keen interest.
