Tanjore (Thanjavur) Painting is a classical South Indian art form known for its elaborate composition, vibrant colors, iconic relief work, and extensive use of gold leaf and semi-precious stones, primarily depicting Hindu deities.

At the center of the composition is Goddess Saraswati. She is the eternal symbol of creation, intellect, and the arts, often worshipped by students and artists. She is depicted seated in the Padmasana (lotus posture) upon a large pink lotus flower. She holds the veena, her musical instrument, in her two hands, symbolizing the harmony of life and the highest expression of art, while the other two hands hold an aksa mala or prayer beads and the Vedas, highlighting her role as the goddess of knowlege. Her attire, crown, and ornaments are rendered in high relief using gold leaf and studded with semi-precious red and green stones, giving the painting a three-dimensional, luminous quality. She is framed by an elaborate, gold-embossed archway and is flanked by two beautiful peacocks, which when associated with Saraswati are symbolic of controlling worldly vanity and ego. In essence, the peacock symbolises arrogance and worldly beauty which Saraswati helps transmute.

The color palette is incredibly deep and dramatic, dominated by a deep black background which sharply contrasts with the vast amount of shimmering gold relief used for the deity's ornamentation and the architectural features. Intense red is used at the base and in the arch, contrasting with the pure white of the Goddess's garments, the pink of the lotus, and the vibrant blue and orange of the peacocks. The pattern is one of overwhelming symmetry and opulent detail, emphasizing the sacred geometry and the serene yet majestic presence of the Goddess.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.
