RAINING IN KUTCH

Kutchad de mihdho vasto

When it rains in Kutch, it will blossom.

Mujho khetar boro khaso lag toh

My farm would look lovely and it will blossom.

Muhje khetar mai milla mung pokhiyan

I’ve found mung beans in my farm.

Neelo neelo moro nach toh

There is a blue peacock that is dancing in the farm.

WE WILL MEET

Jade tavar deyun kyunjdi jadyun

When the flamingo comes around the lake,

Tade tahn milda si

that is when we’ll meet.

Tade tahn milda si, ah ladeh

That is when we’ll meet, oh god!

Bibran mai pee guh badhi

When the flowers blossom in the tree,

Toh ludhi tah tada ludh da si

then we’ll meet and savour the fruit together.

BOONS OF THE RAIN

Fulay jeh vane mate valyu paryon

When the trees of Fulay are covered in vines,

Gasan teh gahatiya

the grass will grow on the way,

Mal chara da ri ala

that is when we will make the cows graze.

Mathe bibr hetha paani phul taran da

When clouds are in the sky and the water is on the land,

Vichin jo veeko mathe veled vada da

the farmers will walk here, to feed their cows.

MY LOVE IS COMING BACK

Karayale kang kare ka ka a de toh

The crow is cawing, someone is about to come.

Ankh par kheti muhjo rano ache toh

My eye is squinting, I think my lover is going to come home.

Dil dhadke tehi mujho sodho ache toh

My heart is beating fast, I think my man is coming home.

Mehndi mali maji laya ladal toh jo khet je

I’ve decorated my hands with henna in wait of my lover’s return.

Mama guraya maso guraya

I’ve called my uncle and and my aunt,

Penje ladal ke godh bataya

to let them know my lover is returning home.

That's it folks!
