This vibrant manuscript painting by Sujit Das, executed in the traditional style, dramatically depicts the crucial moment of the Gajendra Moksha/ Upakhyan narrative. Rendered in a strong horizontal format, the composition is dominated by bold, flat colour fields: a striking red-orange and blue for the land and sky and a contrasting blue and white for the water.
The heart of the canvas captures the desperate struggle unfolding in the lake. Three large elephants—two green and one blue—are depicted mid-battle, as a crocodile seizes the leg of the king elephant, Gajendra. The water body vividly conveys the turmoil with rhythmic blue and white wave patterns, alongside small fish and aquatic plants. The scene transitions on the far left where the blue pond curves into the red-orange bank, marked by a small yellow terrestrial animal, precisely indicating the struggle's location. This moment crystallizes the instant when the elephant, having exhausted his own and his companions' strength, turns in desperation to pray to Lord Vishnu for rescue.
A deep blue border runs along the top and bottom of the vibrant tableau, framing the scene. A small, stylized yellow and red floral motif is placed in the upper right corner, adding a subtle decorative touch. The entire composition powerfully symbolizes the importance of surrendering to a higher power in times of desperation, profoundly illustrating the compassionate nature of God towards his devotees.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.
We ship worldwide. All artworks are handmade and couriered securely in transit safe packaging sutaible for the artwork.

Returns and Replacements
