About the Artwork +

This stunning collection of Sujani textile artworks by Kanchan Kumari, Rupa Kumari, Anshu Devi, Savita Devi, Riya Kumari, Neha Kumari, Nandini Kumari, Sudha Kumari and Nisha Kumari, titled "Parthiv", is a visual symphony of elemental beauty and ancestral memory. The name Parthiv, meaning “of the earth,” captures the essence of these pieces—evoking the enduring vitality of nature and the unseen yet powerful network of life that thrives beneath the surface. Each framed textile is a homage to the tenacity of trees, to root systems that mirror human resilience, and to organic forms that speak the quiet language of survival and continuity. Crafted with raw tussar-khadi silk and mulberry silk, the textiles are naturally dyed using madder, pomegranate, indigo, and myrobalan, lending each panel a rich, earthy tonality that feels both grounded and ethereal. The surfaces are transformed through hand painting, resist dyeing, and the use of organic imprints made from tree bark and silver oak, resulting in layered compositions that blend texture and narrative. The humble Sujani stitchwork, hand-embroidered by artisans in Bihar, flows like memory across the fabric—tracing contours, emphasizing depth, and connecting form with meaning. Framed in elegant white teak (Gamhar wood) with matte polish, each artwork becomes a tactile ode to nature’s quiet grandeur. The varying patterns—some echoing foliage, others resembling geological strata—together suggest a cyclical, infinite story, one without beginning or end. “Parthiv” is not merely a textile series; it is a meditation on life’s intricate, hidden connections, rooted in earth and spirit, and rendered with mindful craftsmanship and reverence for nature’s eternal design.

Framed in White Teak (Gamhar Wood) with matte polish. Naturally dyed with madder, pomegranate, indigo and myrobalan. Techniques include hand painting and resist dyeing with organic/ natural elements such as tree barks and silver oak. Made in raw tussar-khadi silk and mulberry silk. Hand embroidered with humble sujani stitches in Bihar.

Do Suta blue-tick

Do
Do Suta offers a vibrant collection of textiles that beautifully blend modern and contemporary aesthetics with the traditional art of Sujani. Sujani is a distinguished folk art form of embroidery with deep roots in Bihar, India. This unique craft, which received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2006 for its preservation, involves using a basic running stitch to meticulously join and layer pieces of cloth. Do Suta's textiles, often characterized by their cool colors, earthy appearance, and minimalism, evoke a serene essence. This feeling is beautifully captured as: "Under the soft caresses of crimson rays and the mellow scent of ripening mangoes, you'd see them dancing, washing troubles away in showers of the clear skies, blooming in the sky and fields like little patches of rainbow, their laughs fluttering like marigolds in the breeze. As they run through tall fields of wheat with their hair flying in soft waves, kindred ties and congenial friendships set the path where quiet happiness blooms."
