This Pichwai painting by master artist Sushil Soni showcases the celestial leelas of Lord Krishna, focusing on the central figure of the child form, Shrinathji.
Shrinathji stands upon a minimal pedestal, presented with an offering (bhog), in his iconic stance: his left arm is raised as if lifting Mount Govardhan, while his right arm, resting beside him, holds a lotus and a flute. Lavishly adorned with jewelry and opulent garlands, he is the undeniable center of attraction.
Surrounding him, the canvas depicts different aspects of the divine leelas and lush foliage. Gopis both admire and are annoyed by Krishna, who, with his companions the Gopas (cowherds), is engaged in the playful Daan Leela, asking for an offering. The scene is set in a rich, green ambiance, showing Lord Krishna alongside Radha and Balarama in the foreground's lush gardens. The background further extends the narrative to the temple town's havelis and mountains, populated with sacred cows, creating a holy resemblance to the land of Vrindavan.
The scenery is set against a vibrant backdrop, which includes a lotus pond filled with blossoming lotuses. A beautiful border of floriated vines frames the work, completing the serene composition, which is artistically rendered through Sushil Soni's mastery of the Pichwai tradition.
