This lovely tiered circular artwork by Sampad Parida showcases the luminous elegance of Odisha’s traditional Golden Grass craft (locally known as Kaincha). Through a clean, modern geometric structure, the piece transforms natural fibers into a sculptural wall accent that celebrates radial symmetry and subtle textural depth.
Golden Grass weaving is a cherished sustainable craft indigenous to the swampy riverbanks and coastal wetlands of Odisha. Kaincha, a wild perennial grass, is harvested post-monsoon, split and dried under the sun. As it cures, the grass naturally develops a brilliant, metallic-like golden sheen without requiring any synthetic dyes or chemical treatments.
The artwork is structured around a multi-layered, concentric arrangement that creates an optical, three-dimensional effect. At the absolute center is a clean, hollow circular aperture, acting as a quiet focal point from which the energy of the composition flows outward. The design expands in three distinct, overlapping circular tiers. Each ring steps outward in an elevated layer, adding physical depth and architectural shadow lines to the canvas. Thousands of fine, individual golden grass stalks are meticulously aligned in a tight, radial pattern, guiding the viewer’s gaze smoothly from the center to the outer perimeter.
Each concentric tier is bounded by a crisp, tightly bound circular rim that maintains the structural integrity of the fine strands. The smooth, unadorned outer border gives the entire piece a pristine, floating finish, highlighting the precision of the geometry while leaving the organic beauty of the material at the forefront.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
