This exquisite wood carving by the artist Shrinivasan depicts the revered deity Lord Ganesha, the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles.
The piece is masterfully executed in Vagai wood (Albizia lebbeck, or Indian Walnut), a material prized for its strength, rich, warm tone, and prominent grain, which provides a beautiful foundation for detailed work.
The carving features Lord Ganesha, uniquely known as Ekadanta (having a single tusk), seated regally upon an ornately carved pedestal. The deep-relief carving dramatically brings the figure forward, showcasing the meticulous detail in his iconic elephant head and four arms. Ganesha is lavishly adorned with a grand crown, intricate jewellery, and garlands. His four hands display his essential attributes: the noose (pasha), the goad (ankusha), the modak (sweet treat), and his broken tusk.
The piece is protected by a durable PU (Polyurethane) polish, which is preferred over traditional varnish. This finish is applied as a matte aesthetic, subtly preserving the wood's natural texture and subdued elegance. It's the perfect choice for elevating minimalist spaces and upgrading your décor.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
