Om Prakash blue-tick

Om
Om Prakash Jamgid, hailing from Rajasthan, is a distinguished sandalwood artist renowned for his masterful carvings. From a young age, Om Prakash was immersed in the art form, learning the intricacies of sandalwood carving from his grandfather. Growing up in a family dedicated to this craft, he honed his skills within the familial tradition, which continues to thrive with contributions from his children and siblings. His dedication to the craft is evidenced by his numerous accolades, including the prestigious National Award in 2018, a merit certificate in 2016, a state award in 2005, and a state merit award in 1999. His artistry has been showcased at prominent exhibitions such as Surajkund Mela, and through private exhibitions and projects in cities like Chennai and Mumbai. Notable works by Om Prakash include a sandalwood sword depicting Krishna's Leela, which unfolds into seven parts, a Buddha sculpture with petals revealing different stages of Buddha's life, and intricately designed pocket vases. His versatility extends to creating a detailed Rishab Chakra for a private project and crafting both large-scale statues and intricate miniature pieces. Despite facing physical challenges, such as eye strain and the demanding nature of long hours required for handcrafting, Om Prakash remains committed to his art. His aspiration is not only to advance his craft but also to mentor and inspire future generations. His creations reflect a deep sense of dedication and a passion for his work, with each piece embodying the spiritual and artistic essence of traditional sandalwood carving.
