This beautiful rectangular textile panel showcases Jat Garaasiya embroidery, a traditional craft celebrated for its rigorous geometric structure, mosaic-like aesthetic and exceptional technical precision.. Through its deliberate design as a Mehrab (prayer niche) and a dense field of motifs, this piece beautifully captures a blend of religious expression, nomadic heritage and detailed artistry.

Jat Garaasiya is a counted-thread embroidery style practiced exclusively by the women of specific subgroups of the Jat community in Kutch, Gujarat. Historically rendered on the yokes of garments, this art form is distinctively executed as a counted-thread technique, where the artisan counts each individual thread of the base fabric to create a mathematically precise pattern.

While the technique allows for various stitches, this particular panel is achieved using a combination of the tiny, meticulously rendered double-thread cross stitch (the kharek stitch) and a series of geometric satin and buttonhole stitches. This results in a continuous pattern that closely resembles the complex mosaics found in traditional Islamic tile work.

The central composition of the panel is organized around a large Mehrab arch, a classic prayer niche form. Above the arch, the field is punctuated by several large, symmetrical diamond-shaped medallions, each containing internal geometric cross motifs and stylized floral elements, framed by decorative borders.

The lower two-thirds of the panel feature a uniform network of repeating and interlocking diamond shapes. These diamonds form a dense grid that entirely fills the space, showcasing the characteristic "counted-thread" precision. Each diamond within the grid contains miniature stylized floral buds, stars and abstract geometric icons, with the patterns varying from one block to the next, creating a vibrant, pulsing rhythm.

The color palette is diverse and rich, a vibrant collection of earthy yet jewel-like tones. Set against a clean cream-white base fabric, the embroidery features prominent use of ochre yellow, deep mustard, emerald and forest green, brick red and amethyst purple. Smaller accents of deep blue, charcoal grey, and various pinks are also visible. These colors are strategically assigned to the small stitches, creating a pixelated, rhythmic visual intensity.

The central field is tightly framed and grounded by a series of precise, repeating geometric borders. The immediate inner border features a chain of small rosettes, leading to an outer boundary composed of interlocking triangles and checkerboard patterns along all four sides. This dense framing grounds the decorative detail of the interior and encloses the vibrant geometry within a perfectly tailored, traditional finish.

Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

No, we currently sell artworks unframed (unless explicitly mentioned otherwise) and do not provide framing services.

We ship worldwide. All artworks are handmade and couriered securely in transit safe packaging sutaible for the artwork.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

Returns and Replacements

We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.

Delivery Timeline

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 3 weeks to be made and shipped.

Once your order is placed, our team stays in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.

All MeMeraki artworks are hand-painted. In rare occasions, artist may face delays due to weather, health, prior commitments or force majeure. Our team will reach out to you with revised timelines in case of such delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience in such situations.
