This Gond painting by Gareeba Singh Tekam presents a dynamic constellation of lions distributed across interlocking panels of red, yellow and earthy brown, creating a rhythmic visual field. Originating in the tribal Gond community, which lives in close communion with nature, these paintings portray a strong belief that every aspect of nature is animate and sacred. Each lion is rendered in the characteristic Gond idiom where bodies are filled with dense linear and dotted patterning that suggests fur, vitality and inner energy, while elongated limbs and arched tails convey alertness and motion.
Rather than a single narrative scene, the composition functions as a symbolic gathering of the forest’s sovereign creatures, evoking the Gond understanding of animals as sentient presences within a living ecological cosmos. The juxtaposition of contrasting grounds heightens the silhouettes, allowing each lion to emerge as both individual and part of a collective pattern, echoing the Gond belief in interconnected life forms. Through repetition with variation, Tekam transforms the lion into a totemic emblem of strength, guardianship and the animate spirit of the wilderness.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 4-5 weeks to be made and shipped.
Once your order is placed, our team stays in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.
