Sanjay Tandekar paints this Tanjore painting of Sai Baba of Shirdi. He was a revered Indian saint and spiritual teacher, known for his teachings of love, compassion, and unity. The artist has illustrated a portrait of Sai Baba with a full white beard wearing a long, flowing robe called a kafni and a red headscarf. He is portrayed with one hand raised in a gesture of blessing, symbolizing his divine grace and protection. This gesture is known as abhaya mudra, which signifies fearlessness and reassurance to his devotees. Sai Baba was widely respected and admired for his inclusive teachings and the harmony he sought to foster among followers of different faiths.
