About the Artwork +
Hasir Chitrakar portrays a world where the pursuit of knowledge and artistry allows the viewer to focus entirely on the expressions and dedication of the characters. The scene unfolds with two women, seated with legs crossed, as they engage in the rich tradition of music learning from their revered teacher. One of the women holds a sitar, a classical stringed instrument, while the other holds a violin, both emblematic of the diversity and depth of Indian classical music. These instruments are a testament to the timeless significance of music and its ability to transcend boundaries and elevate the soul. The two women are resplendent in their elite attire, attired in elaborate clothing that signifies their high societal status. Their outfits are richly adorned with intricate designs and traditional jewellery, underscoring their refined taste and appreciation for the arts. Although the background is plain, the artist's mastery lies in their ability to convey the essence of the scene through the expressions on the faces of the women. The artist's intricate detailing and eccentric expressions on the faces of the characters draw the viewer into the emotions and dedication of the scene. The artwork is an ode to the enduring significance of classical music and the respect and devotion it commands.
