This is an intricate textile panel with different living embroidery patterns of Kachchh, celebrating the distinctness and deep-rootedness of the various communities and their culture residing in this region of Gujarat.
The Mochi-Aari Embroidery against a black ground, a large floral rosette in cream and white fills this square, its petals shading gently from dark to light in a soft, painting-like gradient. Mochi-Aari achieves this effect using a single, very fine saankdi stitch worked in graduating tones of one colour, with the design executed using a hooked needle called an awl on fabric stretched taut over a wooden frame. Gold thread is occasionally added for a more regal finish, a touch echoed in this piece's pale golden highlights. The dark ground makes the soft, blended shading especially striking by contrast. Floral motifs of this kind are the style's most consistent feature.
The Haalepotra-Khudi Tebha Embroidery has small diamond-shaped units in gold on a red base, repeating in evenly spaced vertical lines across the square, connected by continuous running stitches. This style, practised by the Haalepotra community, transforms the simple running stitch, called tebha, into a decorative element, its continuous lines manipulated at intervals to form the diamond-shaped khudi details seen here. A design detail worked in satin stitch is also integral to this embroidery. The restrained, evenly spaced layout gives the square a quiet, almost textile-like regularity rather than a dense focal motif. Its clean geometry is easily distinguished from the panel's more elaborate curvilinear styles.
The Haalepotra-Khambiro Embroidery square shows a dense, all-over pattern of small gold chevrons stepping diagonally in tight repetition on a red base. Kambiro, the simple running stitch practised by the Haalepotra community, is used here to build a geometric form of ascending and descending steps, with a satin-stitch detail also worked into the design. Compared to its sparer Kambiro cousin elsewhere in the panel set, this version is far more densely stitched, nearly covering the red ground entirely. The tightly packed chevron pattern gives it a rhythmic, almost woven texture. Its geometric stepped motif remains the clearest identifier of the technique.
The Mutva-Katari Embroidery square is densely covered in cream, white, blue, and green cross-stitch, forming the tight diamond lattice typical of Katari work. The basic unit of this Mutva-community style, a square bordered with tiny white squares and filled with pyramid-stacked rectangular bars, is built through careful, repeated counting rather than a drawn outline. The dark ground here intensifies the brightness of the pale outline stitching. Almost no bare fabric is visible beneath the dense coverage. Its beaded, mosaic-like surface is consistent with the style's other appearances in the collection.
The Node-Pakko Embroidery square is a large floral mandala in white, orange, and blue on a red base that radiates from the centre, with florets reaching towards the corners. Node-Pakko, practised by the Node community, is known for this kind of big, bold, circular floral motif, densely embroidered to create a raised, embossed texture and finished with large mirrors. The strong palette here gives this variant a more monochromatic intensity than the multicoloured wheels seen elsewhere in the set. The scale of the motif again dominates the square. Its wheel-like symmetry remains instantly identifiable as Node work.
The Mutva-Mukko Embroidery square is an ornate floral medallion panel built largely in yellow and white metallic thread, filling the centre of this square, its scrollwork catching light against the pale red base. Mukko embroidery, recognised by its generous use of metallic thread for motifs and borders, was adopted by the Mutva community from the Haalepotra tradition and reworked with a distinctive Mutva signature. The lighter ground here lets the metallic thread read more clearly than in darker versions elsewhere in the set. Its dense, ornamental structure remains distinct from the flatter geometric squares nearby. The result is richly textured and clearly ceremonial in character.
The Mutva-Chopad Embroidery square is filled with a dense, colourful pattern of small square units formed from orange, petal-like grid lines on a bright red ground, each corner marked by tiny mirrors that the Mutva community calls takk. Chopad, from the Sindhi word choras meaning square, is built from a small square bordered by five very tiny white squares at its corners, connected by rectangular bars. The vivid red ground and multicoloured fill here give this version a particularly lively, dotted appearance. The tight, repetitive grid produces the characteristic woven density of the style. Its fine mirror work remains a defining feature throughout.
The Mutva-Pakko Embroidery is a symmetric medallion in a lively mix of colours that spreads outward in flowing tendrils outlined in black. Mutva-Pakko is recognised by its curvilinear motifs and borders, outlined with the saankdi stitch (called the aak by Mutva craftswomen) and highlighted in white with the bakhiyo stitch, frequently paired with the chakan nu phool floral motif. The saturated red ground here makes the multicoloured fill especially vibrant. Its flowing, vine-like structure continues to distinguish it from the panel's more rigid geometric squares. This piece shows the same colourful popularity that defines the style among Mutva craftswomen.
The Jat-Daaneta Embroidery square is a dense grid of small rectangles in blue, green, and white, each centred with a small mirror, filling this square in tight, sturdy rows. Jat-Daaneta uses only two stitches: the open saankdi stitch to build the rectangular units, and radiating satin stitch to fill them, producing a sturdy, brick-like surface practised by the Jat-Daaneta community. The dark ground here makes the bright fill colours especially vivid by contrast. Mirrors at each unit's centre continue to lighten the otherwise dense coverage. Its regimented, architectural grid remains the clearest signature of the technique.

The rich purple makes the warm orange detailing especially vivid. Its neat, mirror-symmetrical geometry remains unmistakable. This is the most richly saturated of the Soof variants appearing in the collection.
The Rabaari Embroidery is a bold, symmetrical motif worked in white, orange, and black that spreads across this maroon-ground square, its winged, thorn-edged form clearly legible even at a glance. Rabaari embroidery uses the elongated saankdi stitch to build large, stylised motifs of animals and birds, camels, peacocks, scorpions, and occasionally elephants, typically in yellow and white, with mirrors of varying shapes scattered throughout. The deep maroon ground here makes the pale detailing especially luminous by contrast. The thorn-like highlights ringing the motif remain a signature feature of Rabaari work. Its bold silhouette is among the most graphic in the entire collection.

Each unit is filled brightly and highlighted in white, with small mirrors scattered throughout, following the practice of the Sodha and Jadeja communities. The warm, earthy palette here gives this version a subdued, autumnal tone compared to the brighter Neran squares seen elsewhere. As always, the design's strength lies in uniform repetition rather than a single focal point. Its dense, regimented texture again recalls a woven fabric.
The Sodha-Jadeja Pakko Embroidery is a dense, symmetrical Pakko medallion worked in green, blue, orange, white, and black, its solid coverage built from the open, elongated cheereli saankdi stitch. Practised by the Sodha and Jadeja communities, Pakko, meaning 'solid-strong', creates floral, animal, and bird motifs lightened only by mirrors and the daano stitch unit. The warm ground paired with detailing gives this variant a striking contrast. Its tightly closed surface remains true to the defining density of Pakko work.
The Ahir and Meghwaad Gurjar Embroidery is a large, symmetrical mandala pattern in white, black, green, and blue that radiates outward, echoing the bright, mirror-rich style found throughout this embroidery's other appearances. Practised jointly by the Ahir and Meghwaad Gurjar communities, the style favours large motifs of flowers, birds, and animals, sometimes including the figurative Kaanudo and mahiyaari forms, built with the saankdi, vaano, and daano or bakhiyo stitches in sequence. The cool blue accents here are a departure from the warmer white tones seen in this style's other colourways. Small mirrors scattered through the design add sparkle against the ground. Its dense, festive character closes out the panel much as it opened the others.
