Tree in Soof Embroidery by Daya Ben

This mesmerizing Soof panel by Daya Ben depicts an elegant, colourful tree that rises gracefully against a light, neutral background. Soof Embroidery is a traditional counted-thread embroidery practiced by women of the Meghwal community in the Kutch region of Gujarat. It is created by counting the weave of the fabric rather than drawing patterns, resulting in precise geometric designs. The embroidery is usually worked with silk threads on handwoven cotton fabric, often without any mirrors. Soof motifs are inspired by nature, including flowers, buds and abstract forms.

At the heart of the composition stands the multi-tiered trunk, closely intertwined with stacked geometric modules that taper upward to form a sharp, unified triangular silhouette. The base spreads wide, built from a dense pyramid of interlocking triangles stitched in a vibrant spectrum of pink, orange, blue, yellow and bright green silk threads. Rising up the spine of the piece is a series of stacked diamond blocks containing reflective abhlas (circular glass mirrors) bordered by purple frameworks. Six perfectly balanced mirrors flank the central axis in pairs, adding luminosity and texture.

The upper section of the piece forms the branches, leaning into the sky with a colourful pillar. This is flanked by elongated, vertical bands of yellow and purple satin-stitch lines, which are topped by a delicate crest of pink, green and blue micro-triangles. Branching outward symmetrically along the entire height of the tower are stylized, geometric “arms” ending in traditional soof points, giving the central motif a sense of dynamic expansion across the canvas.

The textile features the Soof school's signature absolute precision, using tight, multi-directional satin stitches to give the flat threads a volumetric presence that catches the light like silk ribbons. The colour palette relies on a striking contrast between the vibrant jewel tones of pink, purple and blue against the warm accents of orange and yellow, all grounded beautifully by the minimalist backdrop.

Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely in transit safe packaging sutaible for the artwork.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
