This complex, narrative Pichwai painting on cloth, executed by master artist Dinesh Soni, depicts the Vishwaroop, the all-encompassing cosmic form of Lord Krishna as revealed to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita. Originating from the Nathdwara tradition of Rajasthan, the artwork articulates the metaphysical concept of Krishna as the ultimate supreme purusha in whom the entire cosmos, all deities, and sacred Lilas reside.
At the center stands the multi-headed and multi-armed cosmic manifestation of Krishna. His torso encompasses various realms and sacred narratives, including a central medallion depicting the Raasleela and the lifting of Mount Govardhan. Within his chest and upper form, deities such as Brahma, Shiva, and Lakshmi are visibly integrated alongside celestial pavilions. His multiple arms radiate outward, holding diverse divine attributes and weapons. His blue-complexioned legs are marked with symbolic eyes and sacred inscriptions, representing omnipresence.
The lower register depicts key scenes from the Kurukshetra war of the Mahabharata, highlighting Krishna in his role as the divine charioteer (Parthasarathi) guiding Arjuna amidst the battleground. The upper register features celestial shrines and divine sanctuaries, illustrating Radha-Krishna as well as formal temple worship of Shrinathji. The expansive composition is rendered in earthy tones of olive green, indigo blue, terracotta red, and metallic gold, framed within a red outer margin.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
