This enchanting Cheriyal Scroll composition by Dhanalakota Rakesh presents a moment of divine play and maternal engagement captured through the image of two figures and a swing suspended from a sacred tree, rendered within an atmosphere suggesting both earthly paradise and cosmic joy.

Cheriyal Scroll Painting is a vibrant and endangered folk art tradition from Telangana. Historically crafted on vertical Khadi cloth scrolls (up to 45 feet long), these stylized, comic-strip-like panels use bright primary colors and bold outlines to visually narrate Indian epics and local village folklore. 

The composition is organized beneath a large, stylized tree with dark brown trunk and densely packed green foliage rendered with repetitive leaf patterns, dominating the upper portion. A white bird is rendered in the upper portion of the tree.

The central compositional focus is a swing rendered with white ropes suspending a platform upon which a young girl sits, rendered in green skin tone, wearing a blue top and white patterned skirt, adorned with golden jewellery. The older and maternal figure is rendered in reddish-brown skin tones, wearing a green saree, similarly adorned with golden jewelry and ornamental hair ornaments. Both rendered in postures suggesting joy, engagement and playful interaction.

The swing itself is rendered with careful attention to detail, the white ropes are rendered with precise lineation, the wooden seat is rendered in tan or brown tones, and the entire structure suggests both practical means and spiritual symbolism.

The background field is rendered in brilliant golden-yellow tones with red floral motifs scattered throughout.

The ground beneath the swing is rendered in the characteristic quilted or scale-pattern texture in golden-yellow, creating visual richness and suggesting the ordered, blessed nature of the space in which divine joy unfolds.

The ornamental border features the characteristic green scroll pattern with red flower motifs, providing formal framing and elevating this moment of intimate joy to the status of formal artistic commemoration.

Domestic Orders

All prices are inclusive of GST and applicable Indian taxes.

• We offer free shipping on orders above ₹1999 for all artworks, except Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri.
• A flat shipping rate of ₹499 applies to orders below ₹1999.

Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri

Shipping is charged on a per-kilogram basis, due to the delicate and bulky nature of these items.

International Orders

• A flat shipping charge of ₹4,000 applies to international artwork orders.
• Customs duties, taxes, or import charges in the buyer’s country are not included and must be borne by the buyer.
• Shipping rates for Lippan, Terracotta and Thikri artworks will be calculated based on weight.

Additonal Shipping Charges

Extra charges may be applicable for both domestic and international deliveries in the following cases:

• If the article requires additional packaging (such as a wooden crate) to ensure safe shipping due to its delicate nature.
• Custom-framed artworks.
• Artworks where shorter side exceeds 36 inches or Decor items with any side over 35 inches.
• If you request express shipping. Contact support to check availability.
• The order contains more than two different product types.

All artworks are handmade and couriered securely in transit safe packaging sutaible for the artwork.

This artwork will be Made to Order and will take 2-3 weeks to be made and shipped. Returns are not applicable on Made To Order artworks.
