This striking Pichwai painting by Naveen Soni depicts a grand, devotional celebration of Lord Shrinathji amidst his pastoral devotees. Through a structured, multi-tiered composition, the divine majesty, ritualistic devotion and lush symbolic flora and fauna of traditional Nathdwara temple art is captured.
Pichwai is a traditional cloth-based scroll painting from Nathdwara, Rajasthan, primarily created to adorn the sanctuary of Shrinathji (a seven-year-old child manifestation of Krishna) and is known for its intricate detailing and rich, vivid colors.
The central focal point of this composition highlights the commanding, dark-hued figure of Lord Shrinathji housed within an elegant, architectural shrine. Shrinathji is rendered in his classic iconographic posture, his left arm raised to hold Govardhan Parvat, while his right hand rests gracefully in a fist near his waist. He also holds his flute and Kamal Chadi, and wears a mor mukut (peacock feather crown).
He is adorned in intricate jewelry, vibrant garments and a large garland, standing against a glowing, patterned yellow backdrop. Resting near his feet are small, vessels containing bhog (ritual food offerings), jaldani (water pot) and paan beeda; while large, sweeping banana leaves fan out from behind the shrine, signifying agricultural abundance and sacred space.
Flanking the central shrine are two elegantly attired gopis, standing in mirrored profile. Dressed in rich green and red ghagras (skirts), they lovingly raise chowries (ceremonial flywhisks) to fan the deity. Surrounding this central gathering is an expansive red backdrop. Set against this vibrant field are rows of white cows, their bodies lovingly marked with sacred saffron handprints, symbolic of Krishna’s role as their protector (gopala).
Immediately beneath the main scene, a horizontal band features magnificent peacocks standing gracefully against a soft green gradient, each displaying fully fanned plumage. Below this flows the sacred Yamuna river, rendered in dark, rippling charcoal tones. The water teems with delicate life, dotted with vibrant, blooming pink lotus flowers, broad green lily pads and tiny swans, capturing the serene atmosphere of Vrindavan.
Reflecting the disciplined heritage of Rajasthani temple art, this piece employs an intricate framing strategy. A beautifully detailed, continuous outer border featuring repetitive floral medallions in deep blue, red, and yellow encapsulates the entire canvas. This structured perimeter neatly grounds the vibrant spiritual storytelling, enclosing the immense mythological and natural detail within a traditional finish.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.

Returns and Replacements
We offer replacements or repairs if your artwork arrives damaged or has a quality issue. As each artwork is handcrafted, we do not accept returns or refunds for orders received in the expected condition.
Delivery Timeline
Ready To Ship/In Stock artworks are shipped in 3-4 days. We only accept return requests for Ready to Ship/In stock artworks placed within a week from date of delivery. However, no returns can be accepted for international deliveries.
Once your order is placed, our team stays in constant communication with the artist to track the progress and ensure the quality of your order. You will receive regular updates from us throughout this process.
All MeMeraki artworks are hand-painted. In rare occasions, artist may face delays due to weather, health, prior commitments or force majeure. Our team will reach out to you with revised timelines in case of such delays. We appreciate your understanding and patience in such situations.
