This is a beautifully handcrafted clay decorative piece in Khavda Pottery by Abdul Kumbhar.
Khavda pottery is an ancient, centuries-old craft from the Kutch district of Gujarat, India. Traditionally practiced in Khavda and neighboring Gundiyali villages, it relies on a specific local mud called ""Rann ki Mitti"" and is intricately hand-painted using entirely natural pigments, reflecting styles that date back to the Indus Valley Civilization. Before painting, the pots are coated with Geru, a red soil that gives the pieces their characteristic earthy, reddish-brown color. The decorative motifs are then applied using black (derived from ground black stone) and white (from local white clay).
The Bhunga houses are iconic to the Kutch region of Gujarat and are notable for their earthquake-resilience structures. This bhunga is characterised by a terracotta and black composition with scarce white dots. A signature element of Khavda pottery is the precise use of white and black dots arranged in specific arrays over a terracotta base.

Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
