This explicit Pichwai painting by master artist Naveen Soni depicts the representation of a cow and lotus stems against a receding checkerboard-patterned background.
The painting is rendered in the traditional Pichwai style, a celebrated form of artwork originating from Rajasthan, with its roots deeply entrenched in the Nathdwara region. The term ‘Pichwai’ refers to intricate paintings executed on cloth, which are traditionally hung on the back walls of temples. These beautifully detailed textiles serve a sacred purpose, created to adorn the shrines of Lord Shrinathji, a seven-year-old manifestation of Lord Krishna.
At the centre of the composition, the representation of a cow is rendered. She is posed still but full of life. In Indian art and tradition, her representation is considered sacred and auspicious. Her anatomical details are done neatly, with the head, hump and legs rendered in red hues, complementing her with sacredness and an energetic living element. She is adorned with tassels dangling near the horns and wears a gold-plated layered bell chain. There is a resemblance to polka dots in saffron colour in her body marking with devotional and spiritual well-being.
Beneath her, the lotus stems are delineated. They are blossoming as if they have germinated in a pond, spreading off the canvas frame. The buds of the lotuses are rendered like a fan. The lotuses are rendered with delicate finesse and fine brushstrokes of pink and green shades.
These representations are painted against a black-and-white backdrop in a receding checkerboard pattern, layered in concentric squares.
Each of our artworks are hand painted by master artists across India. We provide a digital authentication certificate with this artwork signed by the artist which will be sent over email after 3-4 days of delivery of the artwork.
