About the Artwork +

Hemalatha. B. portrays an enchanting Mysore painting; the essence of timeless elegance is beautifully captured through the depiction of a woman adorned in exquisite traditional attire. The canvas comes alive with vibrant colours and delicate brushstrokes, evoking a sense of nostalgia and celebration of cultural heritage. At the heart of the composition stands a resplendent woman, her regal posture and serene countenance reflecting a blend of poise and inner strength. The artist's meticulous attention to detail is evident in every element of her attire, from the delicate jewellery that adorns her neck, ears, and hair to the intricately designed sari draped elegantly around her form. Hemalatha B blue-tick

Hemalatha B, a graphic designer by profession, embarked on her passion for traditional painting in 2010 under the guidance of Mysore Palace artist M. Ramanarsaiah Sir. Her projects reflect a deep commitment to preserving the authentic look and feel of Mysore art, avoiding conversions or shortcuts.
Hemalatha's craft includes the creation of Ganjifa cards, known for their portability, speed, and attractiveness. She remains dedicated to Mysore traditional paintings and their rich heritage.
Her preferred themes are those that convey meaningful messages, often inspired by mythological stories and moral lessons. Despite her graphic design background, she remains true to the art's authentic essence, avoiding shortcuts and marketing gimmicks.
For the future, Hemalatha intends to continue her artistic journey, exploring the bold and vibrant world of Tanjore painting. Her plans include creating knowledge-based game sets, such as a yoga Ganjifa set and traditional-themed sets, adding a touch of heritage to every piece.

Mysore Painting

Mysore painting is an important form of classical South Indian painting style that originated in and around the town of Mysore in Karnataka encouraged and nurtured by the Mysore rulers. Painting in Karnataka has a long and illustrious history, tracing its origins back to the Ajanta times. Mysore paintings are known for their elegance, muted colours, and attention to detail. The themes for most of these paintings are Hindu gods and goddesses and scenes from Hindu Mythology.
